As reported in the San Jose Mercury News 9/13/00, "A national group of more
than 80 educators and child-development experts stood together yesterday to
speak out against the rapid proliferation of computers in school classrooms.

The report charges that 'unproven technology' is siphoning money away
from already minimal course offerings and other pressing areas that could
benefit low-income communities. High-tech executives are a driving force
behind the national rush toward classroom computer use because their
companies 'need to constantly expand their markets.'"
