Robert Gilbert collects individual pole photographs with cameral positioned 4 meters above the erosion surface. Synchronized level bubbles on the camera and on the pole ensure a level camera position. |
Example of an individual pole photograph. Note meter stick for scale (upper right), north arrow and level bubble bulls eye (center), station number (yellow labels, placed on rock in the field). As well, a number of survey markers are visible (faint red number "121" in upper central area of photograph, just above the meter stick). These the locations and elevations of these survey points were measured using a total station. |
Composite unrectified photomoszaic map showing complex erosion forms at Kangerlussuaq. These and other images will eventually be rectified, and analyzed in order to quantify erosional forms. Such indices may be helpful in distinguishing between fluvial, glacial, and subglacial fluvial erosion. |
